Big Changes for 2013

Hello all! 2012 brought many changes, the biggest of which being that one-half of our photography duo moved from Chicago to Los Angeles. Since Jen is now on the west coast, and Alix is in Chicago, we decided that 2012 would be our last year taking bookings as Free To Be. We’re sorry to say goodbye, but we’ve been so happy to have worked with so many amazingly awesome couples together over the years.

If you need to be in touch with us, don’t fret! We’re still around, and still shooting, and happy to hear from you. For general inquiries from bloggers or vendors, or if you’re a bride or groom in the Los Angeles area, please contact Jen and she’ll be happy to help you out or hook you up with photos. If you’re a bride or groom in Chicago, please contact Alix about her availability for your wedding!

Free To Be Old-School: Carrie & Sean’s Pre-Wedding Field Day Extravaganza

We cannot even begin to describe the awesomeness of Carrie & Sean’s pre-wedding field day. It’s hard enough to plan a wedding, let alone a destination wedding. But they went above and beyond to arrange this amazing old-school field day competition for all of their friends. There were team headbands & team names, and games like a water balloon toss, egg & spoon race, pass the sponge, swimming competitions, and even a canoe race! And to have it all set against the backdrop of the rolling Calistoga hillside… just incredible. It was an absolute blast and we had so much fun photographing it.

Free To Be Artsy: A Modern Chicago Engagement Session

Kate & David came to visit Chicago from Pittsburgh over Thanksgiving. They wanted a fun, casual, hip shoot and the Modern wing of the Art Institute was the perfect spot to shelter us from the cold & rain, as well as provide an amazingly cool backdrop for their stylish selves. We started inside, then grabbed the cute umbrella they brought and headed out to brave the Chicago weather for some really unique photos in the rain too. They are such easy, lovely people to photograph and we’re really looking forward to their wedding at Cafe Brauer next year!
